Government Information Center to rise in ComVal
Compostela Valley Governor Jayvee Tyron Uy and Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Director General Harold Clavite signed the Usufruct Agreement for the 1,270 sq. meters parcel of land, donated by the province, for the construction of a Government Information Center within the provincial capitol compound in the Municipality of Nabunturan.
“We are really thankful that the governor has offered us a piece of land. And this signals a very growing platform for PIA and the national government to be felt on the provincial level,” said Dir. Gen. Clavite.
According to Dir. Gen. Clavite, the center will serve as a one-stop shop source of information of all government programs and services. With this, the public won’t have a hard time going into different offices to get the information they need.
“We welcome this development coming from the PIA. Having them with us, especially piloting the government center information in our province is a privilege and we are honored to welcome them,” said Gov. Uy.
The establishment of the said center is seen as an opportunity to strengthen good governance and to make sure that the information can reach to the grassroots level.
“As part of our communication strategy with the national government, what we are doing is, it will strengthen our good governance in terms of transparency, in terms of giving the right information to our countrymen,” the governor added.
The ceremonial signing was held during the “Kalinaw Kultura Mindanao” finale launch on November 29, 2018 at Abreeza Mall Davao.
The Kalinaw Kultura Mindanao, with the theme, “A Culture of Peace, Peace through Culture,” aims to raise public awareness about the rich, diverse, dynamic, and colorful Mindanao cultural heritage, as well as to develop deep appreciation of the Mindanaoan culture through observation, instruction, and experience of local creative content and talents. It also seeks to promote and encourage the preservation of Mindanao’s crafts and creative arts. (SheldaneMahinay // ID ComVal)
