Comval Culture and the Arts Council Convene
The Compostela Valley Culture and the Arts Council convened at Session Hall, Provincial Capitol on October 11–12, 2018 for the Cultural Development Planning workshop.
This in response to the mandatory requirement for the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) for provinces, cities and municipalities under Tourism, Culture and the Arts component.
The workshop was attended by at least five (5) representatives from the 11 municipalities of Comval coming from the Tourism, Information Office, the Department of Education, the IPMR/ head of the tribal council and the SB Chair on Tourism/Culture.
It aims to activate the functions of the Culture and the Arts Council through the conduct of planning, cultural inventory and mapping that will help preserve and enrich cultural heritage, and advance creativity through local support.
The National Commission for Culture and the Arts Executive Director Rico S. Pableo graced the event as guest speaker for the two-day workshop.
Among the important matters tackled include the Philippine Cultural Education Project (PCEP), where a local university can offer a masters course for teachers for free and funded by the NCCA and also, NCCA Grants Program for 2020. (Sheldane Mahinay // ID Comval)
