Comval holds “Panagtagbo sa Kalinaw ug Kalambuan” IP Summit 2018
Compostela Valley Province— The provincial government in partnership with the 1001st Brigade of the Philippine Army spearheaded a “Panagtagbo sa Kalamboan: Indigenous Peoples’ (IP) Summit on September 3, 2018 at Big 8 Corporate Hotel, Taum City.
The “Panagtagbo alang sa Kalinaw ug Kalambuan”: IP Summit in Comval is a roll-out program of the 2018 ‘Panagtagbo Summit’ conducted last January 31 – February 1, 2018 in Davao City called by no less than President Rodrigo Duterte through the Armed Forces of the Philippines- Eastern Minadanao Command (AFP-EastMinCom).
The summit was attended by Comval IPs customary leaders and elders, government agencies and its line agencies, the local government units, and other peace and development partners and stakeholders of the province.
During the program, there was a signing of Memorandum of Agreement of the National Government and its line agencies and Bureaus to support the Comval IPs Peace and Security Development Plan, and the presentation and adoption of the resolution for the creation of Comval IP Council.
Attending the summit were Governor Jayvee Tyron L. Uy and the provincial officials, Atty. Ferdausi S. Cerna from the Office of the Presidential Adviser on IPs Concern, together with the high ranking officials from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the National Police headed by LTGEN Benjamin R Madrigal, JR- Commander, EastMinCom, AFP.
A presentation of the resolution for the adoption and implementation of Comval IPs Peace and Security Plan through the Mindanao Ancestral Domain Economic Project or MADE Project, and enjoin the services of TEAM Humanity for its purpose was also done.
Gov. Uy expressed his gratitude to all IP leaders and elders of the province who are present during the summit and also with the officials of the AFP and other government agencies.
Gov. Uy said that we need to support the programs for our IPs specially their rights and privileges.
“Maningkamot ta nga mahatagan gyud ug saktong pagtagad ang atong mga kaigsounang IPs labi na kung ang histugan kalinaw ug kalambuan sa ilang pamuyo,” said Gov. Uy.
Meanwhile, the presentation of Position Paper of Comval IPs customary leader as an output of the IP and Inter-agency Consultative Assembly last August 9, 2018 as well as the endorsement for approval of the Comval IPs Peace and Security Development Plan to the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) and to the Regional Development Council (RDC) was done during the summit.
On the other hand, according to LTGEN Madrigal “ang panagtapok nato karon nagpakita nga bisan kita naga gikan sa nagkalain-laing tinoohan. Ang kalinaw ug pagtambayayong dili gayud imposible nga makaplagan, kung kita nagkahiusa lamang sa atong tumong padulong sa dalan sa kalinaw, panaghiusa ug pag-usawag”.
“Ang pagtatagumpay ng pagsisikap ng pamahalaan sa kapayapaan at seguridad ng bansa ay nakasalalay sa pakikipagtulungan at pakikipagkaisa ng lahat ng mamamayang Pilipino, lalo na kayong mga kapatid naming katutubo,” added Madrigal.
Also present during the event were the officials from the National Commission on Indigenous People (NCIP) led by NCIP, Regional Director Atty. Geroncio Aguio, CESO IV and Roger S. Lumbin- provincial director together with Datu Felipe Masambo the IP Mandatory representative.
The said summit commits to support and bring down the long awaited government interventions for the IPs in Mindanao who suffers inequality, social injustice, and deprivation of equal economic opportunities. (Rey Antibo, ID Comval)
