11th BSP Jamboree at Comval, a sucess
Compostela Valley Province—The provincial government of Compostela Valley in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd) and the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) – Compostela Valley Chapter successfully holds the 11th BSP ComVal Council Jamboree and Kab-O-Rama scouts with the theme “Growth and Stability” on September 27- October 1, 2017 at the Capitol compound, Cabidianan, Nabunturan.
A total of 3,298 scouts participated from the 11 municipalities of the province. Having the most number of delegations are the municipalities of Maco-681, Nabunturan-626, Maragusan- 418, Pantukan-298, Monkayo-245 and Compostela-249 participants.
Governor Jayvee Tyron Uy – BSP Council Chair said that this is the most participated scouting in the province because of the consideration that the students were allowed to wear the Type C uniform with white t-shirt, short pants and BSP neckerchiefs- making it less expensive; instead of the usual Type B uniform.
He added that he also implemented the mandate of the council to conduct a free school-based Boy Scout encampment for those who cannot join the provincial jamboree.
The five-day undertaking have been successfully participated by the scouts. Adding colors to this endeavor are the activities prepared by the Council namely; Survival skills which is strengthened through Skill-O-Rama which are composed of the three Legged Race, Skinning the Snake, Ring and straw Relay, Flag pole Raising, Compass Relay, Message Relay, Chariot Rave, Wig-Wang, Fire-Building, Undressing-Dressing Contest, Egg-Spoon relay, Knot Tying Contest and Marble Race.
Scouting with BSP is an effective co-curricular program in the leadership and value formation of every child.
The main goal of this event is aiding the school system to mold pupils and students into responsible and responsive citizens of the country and in contributing efforts to achieve quality education.
The participants of the Provincial Jamboree will be the official delegates of ComVal in the 6th ASEAN Scout Jamboree on November 2017. (Jazel N. Sarte//ids comval)
