Gov Uy is Davao Region’s new Regional Development Council Chair

Malacanang Palace, Manila– Compostela Valley Governor Tyron Uy took his oath as the new Chairman of the Regional Development Council (RDC) of Davao Region before President Rodrigo Duterte last October 28, 2019 at Malacanang Palace Manila. The governor joined the mass oath-taking of all RDC and RPOC chairs around the country.

The Regional Development Council-XI is the highest policy-making body in the region. It is tasked to coordinate the formulation of long-term, medium-term and annual socio-economic development policies of Davao Region. High-impact livelihood programs and big-ticket infrastructure projects need to earn the approval of RDC before implementation.

The Regional Development Council is composed of all provincial governors, city mayors, national government agencies, members of the business community, civil society and non-government organizations.

Governor Uy expressed gratitude to the President for his appointment.

“I thank President Duterte for the trust he placed on me. I am truly grateful and at the same time inspired to do more for Davao Region”.

Before becoming RDC Chair, Governor Uy also served as Chairman of the Regional Peace and Order Council from 2016-2019. The governor underscored that his work in RDC will compliment the work he started in the RPOC.

“Peace and development are intertwined and mutually reinforcing. Development makes the peace we aspire enduring and sustainable. We will direct our efforts in pushing for projects that will truly change the lives of our people”, the governor quips.
