Gov Uy wants zero hunger in ComVal
Compostela Valley- Compostela Valley Governor Jayvee Tyron L. Uy expressed his strong resolve to attain zero hunger in the next three years of his administration. During his oath-taking speech last June 30, 2019 at the Provincial Capitol, the young governor mentioned achieving zero hunger as one of his priorities.
“We also address hunger and malnutrition through the End Hunger Framework, integrating the First 1000 Days of Life, implementing supplemental feeding for day-care children, the Kusina ng Kalinga and other nutrition initiatives. We hope to see healthy and performing children in school”.
The governor through Executive Order No. 20 created a technical working group that will integrate all health and nutrition initiatives in the province. The TWG was tasked to create a framework that will serve as the provincial government’s guide in addressing hunger.
Compostela Valley records the lowest child malnutrition rate in Davao Region. Its nutrition programs now serve as models to other local government units and non-organizations.
In his Nutrition Month message, Gov Uy stressed the need to end hunger.
“We can’t build a peaceful world on empty stomachs and human misery. This is why we are working hard to make our people healthy and well-nourished. A healthy citizenry is always the foundation of a peaceful and progressive province”, the young governor said.
