Comval’s DepEd Oplan Kalusugan reaches in New Bataan

Compostela Valley Province – The Department of Education (DepEd) division of Compostela Valley scopes out a school-based feeding program under the “Oplan Kalusugan sa DepEd” (OK sa DepEd) to Cabinuangan Central Elementary School (CCES) in New Bataan, Compostela Valley Province.

A kick-off ceremony was held on July 25, 2019 at the covered court of the said school where it was attended by Provincial Governor Jayvee Tyron L. Uy, Senior Board Member Arturo “Chongkee” Uy, New Bataan Mayor Geraldford N. Balbin, Chief Education Supervisor of DepEd Carina S. Frasco, and Hon. Manuel “Way Kurat” Zamora in the presence of Hon. Renato Basañes.

According to Governor Uy, “Atoang objective gyud ani, ang ma rehabilitate gyud nato ang mga kabaton-onan. Not only that, but to also, of course, educate our parents.”

The ceremony was also attended by School-Based Feeding Program (SBFP) Focal Person Ronald Allan V. Higgins and Nurse II of New Bataan National High School, Ami Jane Arcena R.N.

Meanwhile, according to Higgins, “The DepEd will continue to implement the SBFP nationwide in accordance with the general appropriation with the current year and will cover all identified target beneficiaries.” 

The event in the province is in partnership with the “Bayanihan Para sa Kalusugan-Kusina ng Kalinga” (BPSK-KnK) program, a platform that conceptualizes the building central kitchens in different acknowledged schools within Comval province to help the students eat healthier and better against malnutrition.

The BPSK-KnK program is headed by  Governor Uy, and the program partnered up with the provincial government, DepEd, and Gawad Kalinga  (GK).

CCES is one of the listed beneficiaries of the SBFP of DepEd in New Bataan, with the school having a total of 85 students from Grade 1 to Grade 6.

Through the SBFP, children from different beneficiary schools nationwide are fed free nutritious food within 120 days to help their immunity from malnutrition.

OK sa DepEd is a convergence of DepEd’s health programs, plans, policies, and activities for effective and efficient implementation at the school level in partnership with various stakeholders. #YESToDavaoDeOro (Sean Seismundo, ID Comval)
