Comval joins 41st National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week

Compostela Valley Province (July 18, 2019) —-The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) of the provincial government of Compostela Valley through the Persons With Disability (PWD) Welfare Program celebrates today, the “41st National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week” (NDPRW) with the theme: “Lokal na Pamahalaan: Kabalikat sa Pagtupad ng Karapatan ng mga Taong May Kapansanan,” at the Ground Floor Capitol Building, Cabidianan, Nabunturan, Comval.

According to Aldrin Berti PWD Focal Person, more than 400 PWDs from the entire province joined the whole day activity. They come from the eleven (11) municipalities of the province. 

“The annual celebration aims to recognize the vital role of the PWD in the society and their contribution to nation-building,” said Berti.

The objectives of the celebration is to increase awareness on PWD rights and privileges, to recognize PWD contribution to the society, and to showcase PWDs talents through socio cultural presentation.

“For the socio cultural presentation, we have this PWD Got Talent which is divided in to two (2) categories, children and adult category and the winners will receive a cash prize plus a certificate,” said Berti.  The 1st prize is Php7,000, second is Php5,000, third is Php3, 000 and the consolation prizes for Php 1,500 each participant for both categories.

Prior to the celebration, a motorcade was held on July 17, 2019 to kick-off the launching of the celebration and was participated by the members of the councils, namely, the office of the   Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Education (DepEd), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Compostela Valley Provincial police Office (CVPPO), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), provincial government offices, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Regional Office – XI and the 12 participating schools of TESDA.

Preciosa H. Toledo, Social Welfare Officer IV representing Josephine M. Frasco, PSWD Officer expressed her gratitude to all who contributed their effort to the success of the activity.

Meanwhile, Andres Rhudy Ravelo shared about the RA 10574 an act expanding the benefits and privileges of the PWDs.

Kinahanglan dawaton nato atong mga kapansanan para mabuhi ta ug normal sama sa ubang tao ug magmalipayon kita. We need to strengthen kung unsa man ang atuang mga katungod as PWDs para atong magamit sa tarong ang mga binipisyo ug mga programa sa gobyerno alang kanato,” Ravelo said.

Gracing also the program were Assistant Provincial Administrator Placido Alcomendras Jr. representing Governor Jayvee Tyron L. UY, together with the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officers of the eleven (11) municipalities of Comval, PWD Municipal Focal Persons, PWD Federation President and the PSWD officials and employees.

The celebration is based on the Presidential Proclamation No. 1870 declaring the third week of July every year as the NDPRW. #YEStoDavaoDeOro (Rey Antibo, ID Comval)
