Comval Gov Tyron on uncle’s candidacy in DavNor: “I respect his decision”
Davao De Oro Gov. Jayvee Tyron L. Uy respected the decision of his uncle, former Mayor Rey T. Uy to run for vice governor of Davao del Norte under the PDP-LABAN despite the fact that Mayor Uy is also a member of Hugpong ng Pagbabago, a regional party led by Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte.
The young governor tried his best to have Governor Anthony Del Rosario and former Mayor Rey run under the same ticket but to no avail.
“I tried every way for them to meet halfway. Unfortunately, it did not end up in a good way. No consensus happened. That led him to run for vice governor even without the support of the Del Rosario’s”
Asked whether his uncle’s candidacy under PDP-LABAN affects his standing in HNP, the governor retorted:
“I am committed to HNP. My party is Hugpong ng Pagbabago. I am supportive to the leadership of Mayor Inday ug kay President Duterte. I will continue to discharge my function as HNP treasurer diligently and effectively as what is expected of me”
He further continued, “Former Mayor Rey Uy is his own man. He has his solid track record to rely on. He is a well-respected local chief executive. We will leave it to the people of Davao del Norte to decide”. (id comval)
